Kat Stansell's current objective is to continue learning more about various communication styles and connect and intern with other trainers. Her overall mission is to cultivate the art and science of Compassion through movement, meditation, and Nonviolent Communication (NVC). She is working towards becoming a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC), "a global organization that supports the learning and sharing of Nonviolent Communication (NVC), and helps people peacefully and effectively resolve conflicts in personal, organizational, and political settings." (About CNVC)
Kat is a professionally trained dancer and actress. She studied Performance and Choreography at The University of Southern Mississippi and moved to New York upon graduating to begin her career as a performing artist and teacher.
She also studied yoga and meditation while traveling in Asia for 8 months. India is where she first learned NVC. When she returned to New York, she completed an 8-month NVC Integration Program with the New York Center of Nonviolent Communication (NYCNVC). A few months into her training, she began facilitating under the mentorship of NYCNVC’s Education Director and CNVC Certified Trainer Thom Bond. From 2014 until present, Kat has helped NYCNVC develop and create new NVC programs, coordinate and facilitate current NVC programs, and been involved in their decision-making process as a member of their staff.
Combined with Nonviolent Communication and meditation, Kat’s movement background has greatly informed her own awareness and understanding of feelings and needs. She believes that when we connect to our feelings and our body sensations, we have greater success of transforming and healing our judgements, blame and shame. Kat brings this quality of awareness into her trainings and day-to-day experience.
Kat now resides in Oakland, CA. She is a fan of the Golden State Warriors, acro-yoga and Tai Chi, her friends and family, and her self.

"In my experience, Kat embodies integrity and care in everything she does. As a group leader, she articulates NVC concepts with crystal clarity and more importantly provides a model for learning and living it. As a colleague of Kat's, I'm often grateful and inspired by the trust, humor, and energy she brings to our shared journey as NVC learners, practitioners, and advocates."

"Thanks to Kat for all of the thought and work that went into this teleworkshop and for facilitating it so well. It was my first teleworkshop, and it was probably my first experience with a group phone call that was not frustrating. I appreciated the content. The hour and a half flew by. It felt excited for all the others."
-Rebecca B., Teleworkshop Participant
"Thanks Kat! You are a great presenter: connect personally, have good timing. I found the exercise helpful with a major blowout I had with a friend that had been bothering me for days - *no small feat*! It kind of melted away the tamas like anointed butter."
-Stephen, NVC Introduction Participant
"Kat fosters an incredibly safe and fun space and creates well structured-content."
